Comparative study the expression of calcium cycling genes in Bombay duck (Harpadon nehereus) and beltfish (Trichiurus lepturus) with different swimming activities

The contraction and relaxation events of the muscle is mediated by the coordination of many important calcium cycling proteins of ryanodine receptor (RYR), troponin C (TNNC), parvalbumin (PVALB), sarcoendoplasmic reticulum calcium transport ATPase (SERCA) and calsequestrin (CASQ). In higher vertebrates, the expression level of calcium cycling proteins are positively correlated to the muscle con...

Vancomycin-Resistant Lactococcus lactis 1A-1 Isolated from a Competitive Exclusion Product Transfers Vancomycin Resistance Genes to Staphylo- coccus aureus

A vancomycin-resistant Lactococcus lactis isolate 1A-1 from a competitive exclusion (CE) product contained plasmid-encoded vanA, B, C1, and C2/3 genes. The L. lactis 1A-1 conjugatively transferred the genes to Staphylococcus aureus in vitro. CE product bacteria may be reservoirs for dissemination of vanA, B, and C genes to the human gastrointestinal microbiota.

In vitro stemness characterization of radio-resistant clones isolated from a medulloblastoma cell line ONS-76

One-third of patients with medulloblastoma die due to recurrence after various treatments including radiotherapy. Although it has been postulated that cancer stem-like cells are radio-resistant and play an important role in tumor recurrence, the "stemness" of medulloblastoma cells surviving irradiation has not yet been elucidated. Using a medulloblastoma cell line ONS-76, cells that survived ga...
